Autumn always calls for some of the most exciting months ahead. The leaves turn orange and yellow, the temperature dips a little forcing us cover up a bit more. Layers on layers and comfy sweaters getting us through this beautiful time of the year. I got to visit some of prettiest vineyards Germany has to offer, the Deutsche Weinstrasse. During my visit to these endlessly beautiful vineyards, I chose to take my “Kalparisma” watch by Swiss brand Parmigiani Fleuriur with me. Named after its founder, watchmaker and restorer Michel Parmigiani, this fine watchmaking brand was founded in 1996 in Fleurier, in the Swiss valley of Val-de-Travers. With its own watchmaking centre ensuring its independence, the brand has both full control over the production process and unique creative freedom. For twenty years, the Parmigiani Fleurier signature has resided within timepieces that command the utmost respect, in harmony with watchmaking traditions. A very graceful, timeless and classic which shows the finest craftsmanship Switzerland has to offer.
Feminine and elegant with its iconic tonneau shape, the Kalparisma collection was launched in 2009 and the line has continued to grow ever since. The Kalparisma is the first Parmigiani Fleurier collection of mechanical watches dedicated entirely to women. It features the iconic tonneau-shaped case (narrow and elongated form), a fundamental element of the Parmigiani Fleurier visual identity. The Kalparisma should not be seen as simply a slimmer, smaller version of the men’s model. On the contrary, the piece has been entirely redesigned to inspire it with a unique, intrinsic femininity.
Reading a bit on this the history of this watch, I can see the founder’s vision and high expectations when it comes the brand’s craftsmanship. Each component, however small or hidden, deserves the very finest finishes. Its lugs, its tonneau shape and arched profile are the signature of Parmigiani Fleuriur, which the Kalparisma has adopted, while symbolising the two essential areas of the brand: watchmaking mechanics and refined aesthetics of the lines. This attention to detail is what makes the Kalparisma Collection so precious. When I received the watch for the first time, I looked at all the beautiful detailing involved in this watch. Made with rose gold plates appliques with or without diamonds this watch offers elegance this watch screams luxury on your wrist. The smaller dial with numerals is very unusual and adds a touch of vintage to the feel and wear of it. The face of the watch also elegantly matches the leather strap. The options of straps are just as variable as the watches. My Kalparisma watch band was made of authentic alligator. Other highlights which you can purchase are the Hermès Swift calfskin for white or Hermès lizard skin for black. There is also a red Hermès lizard skin version for those opting for greater originality.
How do you like this watch? Feel free to see more watches here…
Parmigiani Fleurier chose to equip its Kalparisma collection with strong horological content in the form of a proprietary automatic calibre
The Kalparisma recalls and symbolises the two essential principles espoused by Parmigiani Fleurier: watchmaking mechanics and the quest for feminine harmony in the pure aesthetic of its lines.
